What is NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR?
One of our greatest needs is to have friends: people we choose to spend time with and people who choose to spend time with us.
People with disabilities often have very few relationships outside of family members and paid support staff.

NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR focuses on bringing people together to create circles of friendship and support. We build informal, local networks between individuals with disabilities and volunteers within their communities who value having - and being - a friend.

Like Big Brothers-Big Sisters of America, we match neighbors in order to foster lasting friendships.

“Community networks don’t just happen – assistance is oftentimes needed to develop these supports.

NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR is truly a one-of-a-kind Idaho program that allows everyone involved to give back to the community while strengthening it at the same time.
- Marilyn Sword, Director
Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities
